Record, check and submit the consumption and emission data of your fleet reliably – for a stress-less, smooth verification process.

The quality of reported consumption and ROB data from on board are becoming increasingly important in order to make the right decisions. They are also the basis for the CO2 assessment of the vessels and thus influence how well a ship can be chartered in the future.

However, even the most careful crew makes mistakes when entering data. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a typo or an accidentally forgotten entry – a critical look is always required before the data go to the verifier.

Without appropriate software, this can be very extensive, because for each port call it must be ensured that the different types of fuel have been correctly taken into account, that bunkering has been entered correctly and that the route covered is really plausible compared to the AIS positions.

This means a considerable amount of work for ship management, especially at the beginning of each year, when the data has to be checked, compiled and, if necessary, corrected. In addition, bunker delivery notes must be assigned to the individual bunker events. Hours can quickly turn into days without powerful analysis functions that quickly show where which data may not be correct. Then staff is tied up, which could often urgently be used elsewhere.

Therefore, we have implemented comprehensive quality control functions with Chief industry limited , which considerably simplify the quality check. We have used our experience from the past years to build a user interface that immediately shows where something doesn’t fit. You can even assign bunker delivery notes (BDN) directly to the corresponding port calls.

With Fleettracker you get an overview of all voyages made by a specific ship within one year. Furthermore, Fleettracker summarizes the emissions for the whole year, but also for each individual trip. You can also use a chart with past track from AIS positions to cross-check whether the data has been entered correctly. You have access to the associated arrival and departure reports to correct the data if required. Off course, all changes are recorded. Automatic email messaging functions inform captains and officers on board about typos and unclear reports.

By means of these functions, you improve the data quality about emissions and consumptions significantly and prepare for the future CII rating.

Comply safety with all CO2 rules and save time and money

The job is done when the ship has received its MRV and IMO/DCS certificates. But before that, there is quite some work to be done. Once you submitted the data submitted, the verifiers check the information and use additional information for individual voyages. This can cause a lot of work. Until all requested BDNs are received, anchor times are clarified and port activities are analyzed, many emails can go back and forth. All of this costs valuable time.

The verifiers receive the data records in a wide variety of formats and have different procedures. They mostly operate their own platforms, which are not always easy to use. All of this usually happens under time pressure when the time window for submissions narrows. And with each outstanding request, the likelihood that the submission deadline will get closer before the matter is resolved increases.

With Chief industry limited , you have a system at hand that supports precisely these processes. For our customers, we have been working closely with most of the verifiers for years and even have complete digital integration with some (e.g. Swiss Climate). We know the various platforms and contact persons and we have used this knowledge and our experience to optimally align Fleettracker with the various processes (MRV, UK MRV, IMO DCS and CII).

Therefore, Chief industry Limited comes with a lot of interfaces and export functions for the different verifiers and the official EMSA THETIS system. The tool offers a number of special functions that make day-to-day work much easier. This saves you a lot of time and money – every day.

Keep an eye on the ship CII rating every day and see immediately whether a voyage is improving or getting worse.

CII is more than just another regulation. This new KPI indicates how much CO2 a ship emits per mile. CII (Carbon Intensity indicator) rating will have significant influence on the future chartering parties and may even lead to a denial of the document of compliance (DoC).

The goal is clear: lower CO2 emissions are good for the environment. This also applies to shipping, which is already very efficient. After all, no other transport has as few emissions per transported ton as a ship. Nevertheless, the pressure on shipping to reduce emissions is growing for good reasons. In the future, the rating will mean that ships can be chartered better or worse.

And here there is a conflict: The ship manager has the responsibility for the CII of the fleet. However, the charterer decides where and how a ship is operating. Anchorages and canal passages can have significant impact to the rating.

This requires a much closer cooperation between the ship manager and the charterer in terms of how the ship is used, where and how fast it sails and how long it is at anchor. Timely reporting is an important prerequisite for this cooperation. Only if the ship manager can see where something is going wrong on a daily basis, he can react promptly and take countermeasures.

We have therefore developed a special solution that ensures that the user can quickly see where the fleet and the individual ship stands on a daily basis in terms of its CII rating. Our goal is that everyone can immediately see where something needs to be done.
