Retrofit a Shaft Generator

Chief  Industry limited will retrofit our operated Daisy  ocean  (160,000DWT Ore
Carrier, “the ship”) with a shaft generator to reduce its environmental impact. The retrofit is
scheduled in September 2025, in conjunction with the ship’s periodical dry-dock.
The shaft generator will redirect a part of the main engine’s output to generate electricity by using
the rotation of the propeller shaft during navigation, allowing the shaft generator alone to supply
electricity used on the ship. This will eliminate the need for a fuel-consuming generator, resulting
in reduced fuel consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as well as reduced engine
room noise.

The shaft generator and rotor sails have a high compatibility, as while the shaft generator will provide electricity to
operate the rotor sails, it will enable to adjust the load on the main engine through the propulsive
effect of the rotor sails.
We will strive for reducing its environmental impact and promote the sustainable shipping strategy
set forth in our medium-term business plan.
A model of shaft generator to be installed on the ship.
